Finished up college a few weeks ago, feels good to be educated.
I'm taking all the time in the world to find some sort of art career (typical procrastinator that I am) but I'm keeping busy with my art creation. I've been doing more character sketches and have had more interest to do them as well. Most of this interest comes from learning how to draw the human body properly. And frankly, I'm drawing some of the best figures I've ever done. A lot of books I've read teach you to use boxes or a stick figure frame to act as a guide in drawing the body, and in many ways that works, but using an actual human body to understand its shape is so beneficial because you see how the body is actually suppose to look. Something that really got me going was the Darkstalkers character design competition Capcom announced. What I've produced for the contest so far has really impressed me. I shouldn't gloat too much since my stuff doesn't look like anything you'll find in Marvel or DC (I'd need models for that), but it's still a big improvement from what I've done in the past. Even with this newfound sense of interest in this form of art, I still intend to concentrate most of my efforts on my digital surrealism since I've planned out so many ideas for it and its a better expression of my weird personality. Aside from that, working in two mediums will allow me to be a multi-talented artist; my surrealism will allow me to say what's on my mind and now I can do my own fan arts and OC drawings that I've always wanted to do.
Hmm, gonna have to buy a cheap scanner one of these days.
Happy Boxing Day
